Hello, so I setup my Iphone 4, it went very smoothly.

I erased my iPhone 3g. I'd like to maybe use it as an iPod/games for the kid or whatever. When I plug it in I get restore from back up or setup as new phone options in iTunes.

If I do setup as new phone, is it going to xfer my number back to that phone? How do I accomplish using it as a wifi only device?

Thanks!

Any one know what happens if I do setup as a new phone on an old 3g after transferring my account to a new phone?

I just want to make sure it is not going to xfer my account back.

Just set it up as a new phone, it won't restore unless you tell it to.

Please try to avoid abbreviating transfer to xfer.

Probably not. Not everyone who could answer your question is necessarily going to know that xfer=transfer.

I just left my old iPhone3G the way it was and am using it as an iPod at work! I didn't even see any reason to erase it because I like a lot of the games and toys on it and it's cheaper to keep it than sell it and buy a shiny new iPod. And it's great for comparing the resolution of the screens!

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

Uh, you could say that about almost anything. xfer is in dictionary.com as an abbreviation for transfer. Should I avoid big words too, that someone may need to look up? Oy.

Anyway, I did setup as new phone and it did not xfer my account. So that's good. So this is great acting like an iPod touch. Thanks!

Not everybody who visits here is a: a techie or b: speaks English as a first language. So if you want your question understood I too would recommend to keep it simple.

Please try to avoid abbreviating technologically-proficient individual to techie.
