OS 9.0.4
iMac DVSE (graphite)

I just got the Canon S330 USB printer and it works fine.

However, I'm accustomed to having the default-looking Apple "Print" screen. You know the one - Gray screen, very calm, I can save as a file (for PDF purposes), etc.

When I select the Canon S330 via the Chooser, however, I get their version of the "Print" screen. It's got most of the same stuff, just dumbed-down a bit.

This is the first printer I've had with this iMac at home. I've used network printers at work (and I had them set up as desktop printers) and I'd like to set this one up to be the same.

I'm not very familiar (obviously) with the way these printers work, so ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Brian

Do you mean that there is a printer icon on your desktop? If so, Canon needs to include that feature in their printer driver in order to have a desktop printer. I had talked to Epson about this, and they said they decied not to include it as part of their driver.

There was an icon on the desktop, and it would be nice to have that too.

But what I'd really like to have is the default OS print dialog box/menu/etc.

When I change printers in the chooser (to the old laserwriter that I used at work and is no longer connected) and hit "Print", I get the dialog box/menu that I like.

When I change printers (in the chooser) back to the Canon, I get the Canon dialog box/menu (which I'd prefer to not use).

Look for the Canon extensions in the Extensions Manager. Turn off all except the actual Canon print driver. I believe your canon print page may result from an active Canon extension that got thrown into the extensions folder when you did the printer s/w installation.

... And that's my best guess
