Ive noticed in my Monitor window 'LAServer' is running at 60 % CPU

what is it?

OS 10.4.11

to lazy to switch over to 10.5, on another HD even!

thanks for this tip. although I didn't have japanese activated I think, I tried to force quit the LA item but it restarted on its own.

so I did a reboot and its not active anymore

I use MenuMeters and noticed a lot of 'red' activity that was unusual and then took a look in activity monitor and there it was.

Hmm... maybe check under Input Menu under International... see if you have any of the Asian languages checked. That might cause it to start up.

the input menu has 'character Palette' checked but its 'unicode' not japanese.

whats it for? could this have done it? do I need it?
