Ordered on 9/21, and supposed to ship on or before 10/1 with an airport card and 60GB hd.

I guess 8 business days isn't too unreasonable, but I really hate waiting.

...

09.26

Wow, I've been on this board more in the past few days... the buzz is afoot. Apple has some winners. (If they can somehow improve the 15" battery life, which they've shown they can, through an OS update).

I ordered my 12" on Sept 4, but got upgraded to the new model when they were announced. Unfortunately my ship date got put back to Oct 9 (that's more than a month waiting!!!)

It's probably due to living in Australia - although why it takes weeks to get here I'm not too sure. Oh well, maybe I should take a break checking my order status every hour and go enjoy the nice warm spring air...

Order status: Being reviewed. Estimated built time 9 to 11 days. Plus my order included a Mini-DVI to Video adapter, which isn't available until early October and my order is going to ship only when all items are ready anyway. So, where *ARE* you early October?!

Ordered 9/18 from Education Store:
 PBG4 12.1/1GHZ/256/60/CMBO/AP/BT/LL
 IPOD 20GB-USA
HP DESKJET 5650 COLOR INKJET PRINTER-USA
 ISIGHT-USA
 APPLE WIRELESS MOUSE-ZML

The printer, iPod, and iSight all shipped 9/19. PB12 to ship on or before 9/29 and mouse by 10/6.

The $300 edu-rebate made this a very attractive deal for me.

why didn't you order the extra mini dvi-video adapter later on so you can have your laptop sooner?

Ordered it right after release on September 16. They said shipping within 5 to 7 working days...

I hope it will be here by next week. Although I don't really believe it. I bet it will be October by the time it arrives.

Can't wait til I get it.

Well, I figured it'd be October anyways. I paid by wire transfer, and the money will go through sometime this week, and it's from there on until the 9 to 11 days start counting down ie. they start building my order. There are only 6 business days left in September now, so...

No doubt I'll still be checking the order status every single day

Well, just as I checked the status, it had changed to "Being assembled" and I got an email from Apple. The payment must've gone through already then.

But in the email: Your order should ship on or before 24.10.2003
Please allow a further 3-6 days from this date to deliver your order.

Oh well, I can only hope Apple is being conservative with their estimates...

In the Order Acknowledgment it was:
"Allow 2-3 days for receipt of payment.
Allow 9 - 11 Tage to build your order.
Allow to deliver."

I realise that it was only an estimate, but I'm still disappointed.

I'm still going to receive it some day (sigh)

Then there's the worry of possible defects of various sorts..

Correct, the earliest ship date I've seen so far is 9/24. You know people will start posting as soon as their 12" ships, just a matter of time now.

Ordered on the 22nd. To be ship on or before 10/01 for the PB, and 10/06 for the iPod. Why does it take them so long to ship the products out?? Especially the iPod?

Well, had my trusty 15" Ti PB stolen while on business a couple of weeks ago. I travel a lot internationally and I lugged that thing around with me all over the world (literally) for the past two years.

After a period of mourning the lost machine, I decided to switch to something smaller and easier on my shoulder when I lumber through the airport. So, after test-driving the 12" display model at the local CompUSA I decided to switch to a smaller size. No machines were available on sale so I ordered online.

Sept 8: Ordered a custom 12" (60 GB, 640 MB, DVD-R/CD-RW, AE)

Sept 16: Received a notice that the order was cancelled and it was now being
"upgraded at no additional cost" to the new Al 12" (now with 1 GHZ, and 760 MB memory - although if I weren't in Tokyo when this happened, I could have called Apple to upgrade memory to the 1gig maximum). Ship date: Sept 25.

I'll let you know what happens next.......

Same as wbaccus, combo, AE, ed channel, only I added a 20 Gig iPod.

10/1 for the PB and 9/25 for the iPod.

We'll see . . .

Erm, thanks, but I'm not expecting it to be shipped tomorrow (although of course I AM), my shipping estimate was October 24th! Not September... I wish it was, though.

Apple keeps jerking me around. When I first submitted the order last Tuesday, they allocated $1700+ on my card, but didn't actually charge it, then they released the credit. Then again today allocated $1700+. I'm not sure if this latest occurrence was the actual charge (indicated it will soon ship) or what.

We shall see. Knowing Apple's track record, I won't be surprised if it doesn't ship this week. Even though my date says "On or before 9/25".

Hmm maybe I'm being retarded but where are you guys getting your ship dates from?

My Order Status page on the AppleStore just gives
Item Part No. Unit Price Qty Price
PBG4 12.1/1GHZ/256/60/CMBO/AP/BT/B Z07L0292W 1,037.94 1 1,037.94

The icon at the top indicates that it's "Being Assembled" but nowhere is a estimated ship date mentioned.

Does the AppleStore UK not give these estimates?

I placed an order for the PowerBook on the day it was announced at Mac Expo together with a 10GB iPod (how could you pass up on a deal like that?!) on September 16th. PowerBook is supposed to be shipped out by September 25th and for the iPod, it's September 24th.

I believe it's in the email Apple sent you: the one that followed the order acknowledgment one, ie. the order confirmed one. At least that's what happened to me.

Ordered mine Sept 7 via Edu store. Got bumped to the 1Ghz model Sept 16 and Estimated Shipping date says "on or before Sept 25". Then on the 18, I added the iPod to the order. iPod states "On or before Oct 1", but I'm sitting here waiting for the PB with my iPod in my hands.

Congratz, qvr!

Now I'm suffering a serious case of buyer's remorse for including the mini-dvi to video adapter in my order...

Shipping means nothing, apparently. My iPod was "shipped" on the 19th, and it still shows the same status five days later (Picked up in Shanghai). Airborne says that it is sitting in Customs.

Feh.

Same thing is happening to me. I've called Airborne three times and they couldn't tell me squat.

So I called Apple this morning and asked what was up... They found the package in about 30 seconds... Said it had cleared customs. And I got my 2-3 day shipping charges refunded too because to AIRBONRE's mistake...

Ah well... I really want my 12" AlBook.

Guess my iPod is in the same batch as yours. It was shipped 19th, but tracking page shows no progress. Estimated received date was yesterday I did recieve my Airport Extreme card though...was kinda baffled to see it's sealed inside a small zip lock bag rather than an anti-static bag. I've never seen any PC part packed in a ziplock bag...ridiculous.

Hey guys, first time poster, long time lurker.

I'm also a first time apple owner. I ordered my 12" on the 16th when they were announced. Having kidnapped my girlfriend's ibook for a few months convinced me to switch.

Anyway, my ship date is 9/25 but, like all of you, i've been checking over and over on the off chance that it would ship early.

I took a look tonight, and the order status is still "open" but my shipping option has been upgraded to "priority overnight." I certianly didn't pay for upgraded shipping, all things in good time I guess. Anyway, take a look at your shipping and see if you got an upgrade.

I sure hope this doesn't mean that they're gearing up to "compensate" me for pushing my shipping date back further after they miss tomorrow.

Interesting... got an upgrade to priority overnight on my order as well... though my iPod is still in limbo (Hopefully somewhere between Shanghai and here, no clue since last update on Airborne was the 20th like some others).

Mine was upgraded to Priority Overnite as well and mine is still a 9/26/03 ship date.
I hope it really does ship when they say it will; I guess we'll all find out soon.
