My hard drive for Time Machine backups is nearly full so I want to delete the older backups, of which there are many. I have come across this guide on how to do that: How to delete backups from Time Machine | NewCity

My question is this. If I remove all folders from TU but the most recent one, does that contain a full copy of all the most recent files on my main hard drive?

My concern is that some of the files that haven't changed in a long time will only be found in the earlier backups.

You can safely delete those older folders, without compromising the newer backups.

However, you do not need to delete anything. Time Machine will delete older backups automatically when it needs to make room for newer backups.
