I have a lexmark z53 that I'd like to be able to share with my roommates, all running Windows XP. Its connected to my Quicksilver G4 (running 10.2.1) and for the life of me, I can't seem to figure out how to network the darn thing. Or, if the the config is automatic, how to I get Windows to see it?

By the way, I already have "Printer Sharing" turned on in the Sharing Pref Pane.

the Printer sharing in OSX uses the Unix CUPS open standard. Can you install CUPS on windows XP?

I've honestly got no idea how you do it, although I use it every day. We just had two Macs on a network, one with a USB printer... upgraded to Jaguar, and suddenly they can both print. Very very nice. It might require Rendevous/ZeroConf as well as CUPS...

You want to share a Mac printer with Windows machines, yes?

To do this, you need to enable the Samba printer sharing. You can either
1. Do some straightforward but tiresome mucking in conf files
or
2. Download Samba Sharing Package, a nice Preference Pane that will do the work for you.
