I do not have the benefit of having an apple store around.....for anyone who has seen the 20" iMac and the 20" apple cinema display, how do they compare? How does the iMac screen compare to the 23" cinema display? Does that HD in the ACD make for a better picture or is it only noticible when viewing movies or such?

The 20" iMac screen is stunning. It is a spec-for-spec match of the last generation of 20" ACD. So, it is slightly worse than the current 20" ACD. The HD in the 23" literally only means that it can display HD content because it has the appropriate resolution to do so (1920 x 1200) and the 20" panels have a lower resolution incapable of displaying HD in full resolution. The 23" ACD may be slightly "better" than the 20" panels but that has nothing to do with the HD aspect ... the "HD" is really just a reflection of its resolution.
