Evasi0n team releases evasi0n7 iOS 7 jailbreak

Apple's iOS 7 mobile operating system has officially been jailbroken, as a new tool from the Evasi0n team has appeared online. The jailbreak is compatible with all iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, and iPad mini models running iOS 7.0 through 7.0.4. It requires a computer running Linux or at least Windows XP or OS X 10.6.
The jailbreak requires a USB cable to connect a device to the computer. Reportedly, the process can be completed within five minutes, but some in the jailbreak community urge caution. Cydia app store creator Jay Freeman said on Twitter on Sunday that the version of Cydia included in the jailbreak is not the official version:
In place of an official Cydia store, there appears to be a tweaked version pushed out by a Chinese company. That version reportedly has a parallel app store that specializes in pirated iOS apps.
Jailbreaking one's device allows for the installation of apps and utilities that Apple has not approved. Jailbreakers can hide unwanted system apps, download videos and music from non-iTunes sources, and tweak settings to accomplish things such as setting Google as Siri's default search engine. As it is a circumvention of much of Apple's existing software, jailbroken devices are subject to warranty concerns, and the process may result in a device running more slowly and with decreased system stability.

The jailbreak being tethered has NOTHING to do with requiring a USB cable to do the jailbreak. It has to do with whether you have to connect via USB every time the phone is *rebooted* after the jailbreak in order to re-establish the jailbreak.

Okie, MFC: yeah, you're right. We fixed that. Thanks for pointing that out.
Speaking personally, however, I wouldn't touch this version of evasi0n with a ten-foot barge pole.
