I have a 17" in Al and I thought these things were not supposed to scratch! I take real good care of mine also, but I guess not good enough because I have two scratches on the top of mine. There probably isn't a way to get them off is there? I like though how they say it doesn't scratch, but it sure does. Anybody else have the same problem?

I have 2 on my left palmrest area from a traumatic slip of the PB while playing a DVD in a car.

I just looked, the outside only has a few small spots, only 1 or two look like anything more than dirt.

I have minor scratches too and a ding on the lid. I'm a bit pissed about the ding, but it's my fault. The thing that freaks me out is the "corrosion." Wipe down you PB frequently people!

Many Al users have complained of corrosion. Its mostly due to sweat. Do wipe your PB down regularly.

I would just stick to using water once a week with a good piece of cloth (white t-shirt). I've owned road bikes with aluminum frames and those you clean at least once a week, more if you are heavily sweating.

One tiny mar on the front near the latch release button ... belt buckle? Gentle rubbing with pencil eraser seemed to remove most of it ...

Windex (sparse) on a soft pad removes the oil and dust from the aluminum. Wipe 'N Clear pre-moistened tissues for the screen.

But nothing seems to reduce the stiffness of the trackpad button

Here's another vote for that super-soft cloth that came with the original iPods. I use it dry on my AlBook and it's pristine still after a little more than three months of use.
