Hello Guys, I was hoping that the lucky recipients of long anticipated G5's each day would drop a note letting the rest of saps know:

1. when it came in.
2. when it was ordered
3. the Configuration

It would be a big help to us still in wait. There seems to be a concenses that the shipments have reverted to a trickle.

Best

My Dual G5 shipped yesterday (10/9). It was ordered 10/3 and was scheduled to ship 10/20. It was a stock machine with the exception of the removal of the Super Drive (didn't need a DVD burner). Not sure why it shipped so soon. We have a discount with Apple through my work. Could this b2b relationship possibly have something to do with it?

I was actually having second thoughts about the purchase and was going to cancel my order this morning, but it's too late now. Anybody need a Dual G5?

Mine just shipped yesterday as well. Ordered on the 1st. Can't wait. Should be arriving by the 16th. Though my Cinema and Applecare arrived 2 days after the order placement.

At least, I've got a nice display for my quicksilver for now.

I guess there's plenty of G5s shipping now and it's become so common that most people don't report it anymore.

I got bumped to 10/24 when they missed 10/9, which was the original.

Is your date coming around?

My best wishes for speedy shipping to all those still waiting. I know it was a LONG road.

Will do, but don't get your hopes up. I seriously doubt it has changed. It'll change post release, I believe.

Ya my box is supposed to ship on 10/14; ordered 8/19. My Config

DUAL 2
9800
BT MODULE

I have a feeling it'll get bumped. That drives me nuts, as I was just in the Apple store, and they had tons of stock dual 2s. It really irks me that way apple is handling it. I understand, that the Apple stores have been a good move for them, and that they want to have stock on hand for potential switchers, but it sucks that they are burning the pre-order people, whom are most likely the loyal return customers. Its really irresponsble, that people have been waiting for monthes while others can walk into a store and buy a machine. To make matters worse, the apple reps on the phone insist that orders are being filled first come first serve. Its times like this that I think the PC guys have a point, aleays throwing the lack of competition in our face. We love Macs so we are at the mercy of Apple. Punished for our loyalty. Drag. Sorry. had to vent.

This Sucks. My machine (ordered 8/19) was supposed to ship yesterday; but it was bumped. It really pisses me off, because as we all know the stores are stocked. I told that to the rep when I called yesterday, and he said he'd talk to his supervisor about expediting my machine. I think it was BS though. We'll see. Wish me luck.

Dual 2Ghz G5

Ordered: 8/1/03
suppose to ship: on or before 10/15/03
I got an e-mail saying it's going to ship by 10/28/03 today (10/15), and then got a shipped notice an hour later saying it's been shipped.

By checking the order status page, the status keep switching back and forth between "shipped" and "open".

Apple's online store is very confusing.

Still don't understand why some people got their machine so fast, some got upgrade from ground shipping to 2nd day or Priorty overnight... mine is like a roller-coaster ride. 2 and a half month of wait, they left me feel that even I spend well over $4000 for a machine, they don't really care about my money.

Even now, I still praying that my computer will arrive as said. I hope the G5 will arrive before my patient ran out, otherwise I will cancel my order and who knows when will I decided to buy a new computer.

My Machine is schedualled to arrive today. it shipped out 10/15 after Apple missed my 10/14 ship date and received an angry phone call. Now to determine weather its a good Idea to set up my machine. With Panther just a few days away, it would suck to push and pull all this data around, only to do it again in a week.

I ordered a Dual 2 GHz machine CTO base + BT + AE.

Order Date: Wednesday, 10/15 @ 10:00AM CST
Ship Date: Saturday, 10/18 @ ~3:00PM CST
ETA: Monday, 10/20 Before 3PM CST

I ordered from the Developer store, however, so that might explain why my machine shipped so early.

Edit: Fixed G5 ETA from breaking the rules of time-space . . .

G5DP 9800 BT 0.5TB

Ordered from powermax on 23 Sep. Was quoted 10 days.

Was informed that machine shipped from Apple on Thurs 16 Oct. I will pick up the machine on Mon or Tue depending on when it arrives. I have 3GB additional crucial RAM to fill the remaining slots.

I shoulda bought a stock machine. No more custom orders.

This is a silly question, but where can I find the ETA for my shipment? When I go to my Order Status at Apple Store Online, it only shows the Ship Date. It lists the carrier as "Same Day Right Away" but I can't find any info on that carrier to track my package.

Ordered Dual G5 (stock), student ADC member.

Ordered: Thursday afternoon (16. Oct.)
Shipped: Saturday morning (18. Oct) from Ireland.

Expected to arrive in "2-5 business days" (its going to Norway).

In other words, I could get the Dual less than a week after ordering. Now, that would be outstanding...

Going from a Powerbook G3 Pismo 400MHz to a Dual G5 2Ghz. Yes, I will be wearing a seatbelt.

Gee.... My shipping date which was today 10/20 just got bumped to 10/30. It's a CTO with ATI 9800 pro and BT. I called Apple and they say earliest date it shows is 10/28. I will be out of the country on business trip starting 10/27.

I guess I have to cancel the order if it doesn't ship by 10/25. What a waste of time it has been! Should I just cancel it now and order stock from 3rd party? They all seem to have some in stock.

My order date was 9/12 BTW.

advantages ordering from a third-party retailer:

(1) save CA sales tax

(2) often get free RAM

I ordered a stock Dual G5 from Apple on October 7, and it shipped on October 10 (Friday). Pretty nice. I live in Santa Rosa, CA, and it was coming from Sacramento, so I got it the following Tuesday (last week) via free ground shipping.

It's probably taking longer for BTO shipments to arrive compared to basic stock orders.

Got a call from the FedEx guy yesterday just after noon. He wanted to make sure I wanted him to leave "this new high power Apple G5" unattended on my front porch. Early day off and the new duallie is up and runnin.
What a beautiful machine. Everybody should buy at least one.

My G5 arrived at 10:00! I opened it up but I have to leave to work !

However after work I'm going to have to setup my sis-in-law's iMac that came in yesterday afternoon, so I won't be able to setup my G5 until Saturday (which is fine since I can install Panther that day)

Anyway, I'm freaking EXCITED!

WOOHOOO!

Got it! Argh. Damn Fedex screwed the pooch on this, but I chased em all around the state and finally got it tonight! What a great computer!

Unplugged all my STUFF from my DP G4500, plugged it all into the DPG5, put in the RAM, additional drive, and...it all just works right off the bat! Ya gotta love it!

Only thing I couldn't use was my two USB PCI cards. They don't fit. Oh well.

I called the local Apple store before I got my G5 and asked when Panther would be shipping on new systems. FWIW, I was told that they would begin installing 10.3 on new systems in production AFTER the release.

Canadian shipments are sent from California to Toronto, Canada, I think. Once in Canada they are shipped by ground by Same Day Right Away.

Their website is

www.sameday.ca

from this website you can enter your tracking number (begins with SVA) to findout where your computer is, once it reaches Canada.

My order G5 1.8 shipped Oct 18 by ground and it still hasn't made it to Canada yet. I was given a 8-10 business day time for delivery once shipped. Should have it for Halloween.

My order G5 1.8 shipped Oct 18 by ground and it still hasn't made it to Canada yet. I was given a 8-10 business day time for delivery once shipped. Should have it for Halloween.
Thanks for the info and the url. It seems mine hasn't gotten across the border yet either. Rats.

Wow! Its here! My very own Dual G5!

Ordered last Thursday from Apple Store Norway, arrived this morning from Ireland.

Wow!

But did I get scared! When I tried accessing the Superdrive the tray wouldnt come out. It seemed to bump against the case, and so I had to open the G5 to check the drive. I could clearly see that it was too high to properly come out of its shell.

Got really depressed. Tried fiddling with the drive to no avail. Called Apple, they referred med to service center, got an appointment to deliver it for repair tomorrow. Five day wait. Sigh...

BUT, did a final check to see if I coudnt get the Superdrive loose to perhaps adjust it in some way. Nope, completely stuck. Then, when I had really given up, I put back the two "handles" holding the Superdrive, when I heard a small "clonk" sound. Bam! The Superdrive had fallen into place. Oh, joy! :-D

Everything works like a charm now. What a machine. So quiet, probably so fast, but havent checked it yet.

Will order more RAM. Maybe an LCD-display.

This is gonna be sweet...
