Although there have been a number of good deals in recent months on both the iPhone 5c and 5s, a new deal kicking off tomorrow from
RadioShack may be the one iPhone 4S holdouts have been waiting for. Starting April 18, new or upgrading customers using AT&T, Verizon or Sprint can buy the 16GB version of the iPhone 5s for $99, half of its usual $199 up-front cost. The deal, which is available both
online and in stores, gets sweeter if users trade in a working iPhone 4S or newer.
Users with an "eligible" iPhone 4S will get $100 in credit towards the iPhone 5s, bringing the cost down to zero (apart from a two-year contract with one of the three carriers mentioned above). The 16GB model appears to be the only one that is eligible for the promotional price, and we've been told the discount is only good through the holiday weekend.
Pixelmator teases future update, cuts price in half
Image editor Pixelmator (currently at version 3.1) is in the process of creating a significant update. Version 3.2 "Sandstone," which will be out later this year,
completely revamps the existing "repair" tool to more easily remove objects in a photograph (what Photoshop calls "smart replace"), for example taking extra people out of a beach scene. The update will be free for existing users, but in the meantime the company has
dropped the price for new customers to $15 (50 percent off).
"In developing an entirely new Repair Tool, we've used the latest breakthrough technologies that enable you to remove dust, blemishes and entire objects from your images with an unsurpassed level of precision and quality," the developer team said in a statement. The program was last updated in January to add some Mac Pro optimizations, and has emerged as one of the more popular Photoshop alternatives in the Mac App Store.
