I am in the UK. For some reason I am unable to make conference calls at the moment on my iPhone. I have done so in the past.

O2 insist there are no network problems, and it's true that I can get two calls going at once - it's just that the 'merge calls' button on my phone switches between calls, rather than merges them.

So I went to see a Mac Genius at Regent Street. We rebooted, reinstalled and reset. No change. But then he discovered that none of their iPhones were able to conference call either. So either there is a software problem on the iPhone, or the O2 network is screwed.

He did say that one of his colleagues had got O2 to change their SIM, and that she had therefore fixed it - but this was anecdotal and he didn't seem too clear on what I was to say to O2 to get a new SIM, or why this would change anything.

So, is anyone else out there having, or not having, a problem with conference calling? It's a really useful function for me so I want to get it back ASAP.

Thanks

OK well I now have the answer. In the UK, in February, O2 upgraded quite considerably our price plans for the iPhone. More minutes & texts. At the same time, they forgot to restore all the features for some users (not all).

So if anyone else has this problem - just call O2 and explain this to them. Their iPhone specialists are aware of the problem.
