The battery on my MPB seems to be performing quite poorly (very short run time to flat, hard to charge etc) so I checked out the apple battery update programme.

I noticed that on the web page it showed what I assume is a screen shot from the system details of a standard MPB. This showed the the battery had a maximum battery capacity of 5413 mAh and amperage of 3185. . So I checked mine and it is showing a max capacity of only 1407 mAh after only 130 cycles and only 439 amps. This seems very low.

At the momet my batter is showing in th emenu bar as 99% charges

Should I be after a new battery? The MPB is only 4 month old.

Your battery is defective, call AppleCare for a replacement.

Don't waste your time trying to fix it.

Battery capacities vary, and you will see the figures change after every few charges. 5413mAh is good, but mine has remained at around 6780mAh from new.

However, your battery is most certainly defective. I wouldn't expect to see performance like that from a PB/MBP battery until at least a couple of thousand cycles.

Good luck,

I agree with pcguy1.

Ive recently had my battery replaced as well. It was showing low capacity with only 90 cycles, and when I took it to the Apple Store, they replaced it instantly with no hassle or questions.
