Right now it is just "http://207.177.95.24". How do I get something real like "www.mikaelg.com"?

First go to a site that registers domain names. Some good ones are:
www.networksolutions.com www.register.com (personal fav.)

Then register your domain name (assuming no one else has it) for $34 (I think) a year.

You then need to configure it to point to your server. I'm not 100% sure how to do that, but I think there is info at register.com. It involves DNS servers, and stuff.

Hope this helps,

i've done a lot of looking for cheap web hosting, and i can't recall seeing a free domain name that didn't have $$ strings attached. if you want rights to your domain name with the opportunity to reserve that domain name in the future, it's worth paying for. i've seen a number of sites that'll let you register a domain name for $15/year. i happened to catch a sale at register.com, got mine for $1.

if you don't mind having a subdomain (ie; yourname.dyndns.org), check out:

http://www.dyndns.org
http://www.hldns.com
