Hello all,

My fiancée is completing her bachelors soon and will be moving up to the Chicagoland metropolitan area. I work in Northbrook and she's found a job in Ottawa. We're thinking of moving to the Naperville / Aurora area, but would like to somehow find a place that's simultaneously decent and yet not too expensive. We're either looking for a two-bedroom apartment or a townhouse to rent. Any suggestions?

We're also open to looking out Naperville/Aurora. It's just we'd like something commutable between Northbrook and Ottawa.

Thanks in advanced.

Those are probably your best choices in terms of splitting the distance and being the least podunk. Joliet has a "prison-y"'vibe, and Elgin is probably too far north.

What's your rent budget?

Let me say in advance, my suburb-fu is rather weak.

Uhm, I guess the obvious. Bolingbrook, Plainfield, Romeoville etc.

You'd need to be close to I-55 or I-355 to make this work.

Lockport is actually kinda neat. It has something of an "old timey" feel to it.

The Mayor is a hipster, and has been revitalizing the town.

So far we've found renting townhouses for $1,600/month and two-bedrooms for $1,400/month Ideally, we'd like a lower price to help save money...

This place is reason alone to live in Joliet. My wife's uncle picked us up at Midway and drove us straight here.
