As a new virus named Kris is about to strike PCs on December 25, i have a suggestion for AntiVirus software makers :
Make them free for Mac users
as they are just used to protect PC users from virus that are harmless for our OS. Remember Melissa, Love Letter, I love You. They will just have to raise their prices by 5% on PC versions (that are always cheaper than ours) and it won't cost them a penny.
By the way, if people are dumb enough to use Windows without antivirus software, they got what they deserve.

Amen, brother.

I just got through a lengthy battle with a friend's ISP. My friend, an iMac user, was cut off from their internet service by their provider for allegedly spamming email porn. The ISP tech weenie later realized that my friend did not actually commit the crime but concluded that she was the victim of a PC virus (no actually virus was identified) that somehow affected her Eudora enough to pull off the stint for which she was accused.

We argued that this was extremely unlikely and that it was probably just an email header spoof. But the ISP tech weenie said that, no, it was a virus. And that there must be lots of Mac viruses out there otherwise their wouldn't be any Mac antivirus software. What he doesn't realize is the fact that you have just explained - Mac antivirus software exists, for the most part, to prevent Macs from retransmitting PC viruses to PCs via email or network links. With the possible exception of macro-viruses (her Eudora doesn't use macros!), cross platform viruses are fairly unlikely.
