Here's an ad ABOUT Apple advetising:
From the Tri-Valley Herald, in Bay Area Living, by Susan Young:
"Did you catch the season finale of 'Dawson's Creek' this week?
I know, we already did the rant, but this can't go by unnoticed. The series began with what was nothing less than a
(sp) extended commercial for Apple/Mac computers. Dawson and Dad go into a computer store. Dad wants to go with a PC that has everything and is cheaper. Dawson says no way. He compares Macs and PCs with Elvis or the Beatles. Which one is greater? It's one or the other.
Dawson declares he'd rather have no laptop at all rather than stoop to using a PC. Dad buys the PC anyway, sparking a miniwar between the two. When the commercial for Apple computers came on, it was hard to tell where the series stopped and the commercial began.
Just try to find any show on the WB -- or almost any other network -- that show anything other than an Apple computer. Now that's advertiser loyalty. Or kickbacks, whatever you choose to call it.
And wasn't it just
the moment when Dawson came home and discovered an Apple laptop had replaced the PC. Awww, Dad had finally realized that it was futile to fight what was right.
(Damn straight!)
Pass the barf bag, please."
I thought it was rather interesting.
