The chart I saw had Dubya at over 1700 days. Reagan, Clinton, Bush Snr and Obama never got there.

Cue Chongo to share a link to something negative about Hillary Clinton or Obama.

Back up to near 50% approval. I guess this is a post-republican-assassination-attempt bump?

Factor in that he managed to read the post-shooting speech with relative decorum, without making it about himself too much, or laying blame on the MSM, he looked downright presidential.
This is the bar we've set.

I don't recall him saying anything about himself or the media.

You seem to have misread. Clarifying:
He didn't make it about himself too much, but a little:
"he's a very very very good friend of mine"
He did not mention the media at all. For which I am glad.

I'd say he's gotten to know the guy pretty well, since he's the majority whip of the House. It's likely someone he's spoken with a lot and he's upset that they were seriously harmed.
He did not mention the media at all. For which I am glad.
I suppose I'm not sure why he would.

Precisely. It was remarkable in its absence, considering how pretty much any other speech/tweet from him includes some rant or other.

I don't feel like giving CNN all those free adloads from the constant refreshing?
Someone else already has, for a CNN poll to skew NO so strongly.

Oh Johnny, as if your career wasn't in enough trouble, you just had to make your public life into a shitshow as well.
http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/...ry?id=48227090
Now it appears that another Tinseltown figure, actor Johnny Depp, has entered the fray, making controversial comments about assassinating the commander in chief.
While at the Glastonbury Festival on Thursday in the English village of Pilton, Depp brought up the president prior to introducing his 2004 film, "The Libertine."
"Can we bring Trump in?" Depp says to the crowd, which responds with widespread boos, according to videos of the remarks. "No, no, no. You misunderstand completely. I think he needs help. And this is going to be in the press and it'll be horrible. But I like that you are all part of it. When was the last time an actor assassinated a president? I want to clarify: I'm not an actor. I lie for a living however it's been a while. Maybe it's about time."
I guess he'll be arrested as soon as he gets back to the USA. What an idiot.

I'm certainly personally not in favour of that kind of language, and obviously I would agree that Depp is probably an idiot (based on his terrible movie choices if nothing else ho ho), but I'm also not sure why people get so wildly upset about this sort of thing. It's clearly a bad/ill-advised joke.
Yet instead of SMH and putting them in their room and locking the door, we get everyone screaming at KL Gifford for a week. Ugh. Ignore them.

I feel the elephant in the room is Depp's not that great of an actor.
And while we're at it, Burton sucks too. That they managed Ed Wood still astounds me.

Depp at one time was an amazing actor, but that ship has sailed.

I thought the first Pirates movie was a great movie. The rest are just an excuse for him to carry on his act from the first one and are garbage, but the first one was an entertaining, amusing family action romp I thought. Obviously it was never going to win any acting oscars but it is a good movie, it ticks a lot of different boxes.

Until the next sentence where it starts getting walked back.
I mean, sure... it's the Citizen Kane of movies based on amusement park rides, but a great movie is Time Bandits, or Spirited Away.

Absolutely. At some point Depp decided he was going to combine his Edward Scissorhands and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas characters and that's been pretty much it. Sub-question (Jack Black hands from High Fidelity): anyone seen Don Juan DeMarco lately? Anyone? Anyone? No?
The only good movies Burton have ever made are Ed Wood, Batman Returns, and to a lesser extend Batman. It would astound me that he's still a huge director, but.....he makes lots of money, apparently. It seems he learned from Ed Wood on what to do: don't make a good movie that no one is interested in, but rather make a bad movie that everyone wants to see. He never bothered with the third option - a good movie that people want to see...

Beetlejuice is excellent, but from what I understand the suits kept Burton on a tight leash.

Do you ever take a step back and realize how completely ****ed up it is that our president is concerned with cable news infotainment enough to take time out of his schedule to make stupid inane tweets about it?

Here's how news is going to work from now on. Everybody pay attention.
I hear a story. Let's say it's "Trump tries to blackmail Joe and Mika".
I go to my local, neighborhood bitchfest, r/politics, to find the story. They have Newsweek in the "hot posts".
I click on the Newsweek link and before the article loads I get "congratulations, you are today's selected winner" blocking the whole page.
Back out, click the link again. Same thing.
I now officially do not care about this story.

Perhaps your methodology and sources are at fault? I didn't know newsweek still existed.

We know, dear. You've said.
Yet, you do not seem to defend Trump's antics beyond "haha not hillary." Do you really think this creature is seriously doing a good job as president? Do you think he's respecting the office? Do you think he is garnering respect for the US with his behavior? Do you think we'll be better off in 4 years?
Or are you just hoping to see the world burn?

I won't say my system is flawless, but it takes care of the problem trying to Google a an evolving story.
The other option is Twitter... talk about sources at fault.

Jesus could be the Democratic candidate, and to a Republican, Trump is a better alternative.
This is how the tribalism game is played.
