Hi everybody!

I have a 4G iPod 40G and it's great . And big

I'm looking for a small & slim iPod and, of course, Nano fits de bill.

As 1st Gen iPod Nanos are heavily discounted ($149 for a 4G) I'm thinking of maybe getting a 1st Gen.

Is this completely silly, as a 2nd Gen is really worth extra $50? (or rather extra $100 b/c I'd like a black iPod Nano)

I know 1st Gen gets easily scratched , so I plan on acquiring somekind of film protector. For what I've red in the forum, there are 2 options:

* Invisible Shield's Full Body Shield (ShieldZone - Home of the iPod Screen Protector:)
* bestskinsever's Skin (Best Skins Ever iPod Nano Skin (1 piece front))

What are your experiences with those protective skins? Is the Invisible Shield worth the extra $14?

And finally, is AppleCare really worth it?

Thank you in advance

2nd gen:
-comes with the *newer* firmware
-doesn't get scratched that easily
-you save on buying that piece of plastic to protect it
-it's "newer"

Just my thoughts.

The Gen 1 refurb is great value, if 4 GB is enough. If 8 GB is going to be more useful, the Gen 2 might be a better bet.

Hi Jackonicko,

The only appreciated "usefulness" of 2nd Gen 8 GB is that it comes in black

And I want a black iPod
