I am looking for a company the will host my domain, and allow me to use mydomain.com as my email. I know I could just set this up in OS X via Apache and Sendmail but:

I want to use this computer for other things besides a server.

I don't trust my limited knowledge with unix security.

I am sure there are a bunch of companies that do this, a point in the right direction would be a big help.

I've been happy with DreamHost. The only complaint I have from them is that they limit your number of MySql queries each month. If you don't plan on having an incredibly active database, they I would highly recommend it.

I use ICDSoft, and have been very happy with them.

Search the Lounge and the Web Developer forums, and you'll find quite a few threads regarding web and email hosting.

I host it myself but I don't have a fast pipe. But for my light needs, it works great.

I'm moving this to Web Developer as your question is off topic here.

With ICDSoft can you use Mail.app to check your email or is it only web based?

It's POP based email, so you can use Mail.app.

POP and IMAP.

Speeds are good. They're better now that ICDSoft has US servers in addition to their Hong Kong setup.

Uptime is absolutely a non-issue. Downtime is a word that doesn't exist with ICDSoft.

Not really, other than the US servers should be faster for US users. I've got one account on the Hong Kong servers and one on the US servers, but I don't notice any real difference.

Yup, the support people are very fast. You should expect an answer within 15 minutes 24/7. I've received answers within 3 minutes before, and that was on the weekend.

You have to set up each address manually, so I'd say no, the mail service offered isn't like BigMailBox (from what I understand of BigMailBox).

If you're willing to set up the addresses by hand, you certainly can give email access to visitors. You get up to 999 addresses.

I know a friend that setup his site on http://lunarpages.com. He is using there Shuttle plan for $7.95/mo. Very nice, even comes with a Forum. Everything is configured via clicks and checks.

Check it out, I'm thinking of moving my site their also.
It's all just a bunch of ones and zeros!

I'm looking for a host that supports shopping carts. It doesn't look like icdsoft offers that. Anyone have any hosts that they like with shopping cart support?

Thanks,
Todd
