Not really a politics discussion per se, but I'm wondering if the fast and furious rates at which news has been generated of late has caused anyone to slam harder than usual into the NYT and WP paywalls.

I ask because I've found I guess the paywalls have done their "job" of disinclining me to consume the content.

To be clear, my disinclination isn't due to a conscious opinion, it's textbook Pavlovian conditioning. I don't want to burn free views on unimportant things, or go through the hassle of porno mode. If I see a NYT or WP story, it has to be really important to me before I even think about clicking it.

I have no desire to visit them, their extreme bias (they're the Left-wing versions of Breitbart and Redstate) makes them very distasteful to me, and they've only gotten worse with their ever-growing number of writers with social justice and gender studies... "degrees". Bleh.

Here's my take on the various outfits.

CNN: try vetting stories once in awhile.
MSNBC: Bad news, okay pundits.
FOX: okay news, bad pundits.

The Hill: Probably hate this the least.
HuffPo: 🤢
Salon: doesn't even deserve to be on the list.
Breitbart: ditto. Shame because I guess Andrew was an okay guy.

ABC >>> NBC > CBS

PBS/NPR/NYT/WP: they fit what I'd call the "typical" MSM bias.

Almost everyone who works for them are lefty urbanites.
They hate Republicans.
They try to put their bias aside, but are unaware of the extent the mind uses bias as a substitute for reality, so they don't do the greatest job.

Everything seems very polarised with you. You call the NTY and WP "extreme left bias". Surely they are simply left of centre publications. They are owned by billionaire media tycoons after all (PBS aside). A quick search around the internet throws up the extreme left sites that more accurately correspond to your far right examples.

I feel that labelling centre left as extreme is just a ploy to move the debate to the right by framing what were centre right and flat out right wing organisations and people as now holding the centre view while the existence of the far far right sites allows people the fig leaf of sayng "look further right views exist".

I'm less concerned about bias with the NYT and the WP, which I just compensate for like with every other outlet, than them cracking the seal on the Deep State.

This box will resist being closed.

No. There's nothing center-left about cuddling up to communists, supporting Marxist principles, and calling true center-left individuals "alt-Right". subego admits their bias, he's simply willing to wade through the shit looking for gold, I'm not.

Does bugmenot.com no longer work?

There is a real pot-kettle situation happening with regard to "fake news" and slant. Inflammatory headlines and articles with no substance.

They call Phil DeFranco and Dave Rubin alt-Right, FFS.

That definitely gets into sources I won't waste time with.

The Dave Rubin slapfight is with Mother Jones, right?

I can morally rationalize a cookie-block, but I'm less comfortable with actively abusing a login.

When it comes to slant and inflammatory headlines, I pretty much only care about the MSM. Lesser outfits can do what they wilt.

Did they resign, or were they paid to leave, giving the appearance they resigned?

The way it usually works is "resign or be fired, pick one".
