No it'll be The Smashing Pumpkins. Billy and Jimmy are the core of the band, and they will be there. The other two slots (bassist and 2nd guitar) are historically peripheral in this band.

Wish I could get away those days... I will wait for the full blown tour.

I liked the leak of "Tarantula" so hope the album is good.

If James Iha was there it would make this oh so much sweeter, but you get what you get.

Bah. James is also a key component. Machina was made without Darcy, and it was horrible.

Hope they don't suck.

Not quite. Machina was made with D'arcy. She left at the completion of the album. The accompanying tour and videos were done without her.

I don't like it.

The lyrics are crap. What's with the galloping guitars?

I might have to listen to it then. Gish was their best CD.

This will explain some of that: Billy Corgan | The A.V. Club

Expect more of the same in future. I think it will take him an album or two to get his legs back, frankly. He might never create another Siamese Dream. But even just another Drown, Rocket, or Porcelina would leave me spinning in joy until the next release.

hey guys just wanted to chime in

i went to the past two nights of shows saturday and sunday in NC and they blew me away, i knew it was going to be good but man they sounded great. it would nice to see james up there and perhaps D'arcy but jeff can play circles around james and ginger can hold her ground and she isnt all that hard to look at either.. they played a great round setlist played some songs i wouldnt of thought they would play. watch some you tube before you start passing judgement

Did his singing suck like it usually did live? Compared to the CD anyhow.

I'm so envious! The Smashing Pumpkins is one of my all time favorite bands and, when their tickets went on sale here in San Francisco, they sold out in 6 minutes. No hope of buying them off craigslist either, since I seem to recall there are no paper tickets and tickets are matched to the name of the purchaser at the door.

I'm glad to hear that they're sounding great. There's always that danger when a band comes back after retirement or replaces its band members, or both here.

Never got the chance to see the original lineup. The show I saw on the 27th was the greatest live show I have ever seen and with all probable certainty...ever will. I know some might disagree, but Schroeder and Reyes fill Iha and D'arcy's spots admirably. I will be spending the rest of my life trying to get back to the feeling of that experience. They put on a 30 song 3 hour set that was embedded with such passion for music and appreciation for the fans (esp. with their open taping policy) that it puts to shame most other performers, new and old alike.

the new album is actually pretty good. i've liked their last few albums, so maybe that makes me the weird one here.
