You are a Certified Geek, my man. I say that in a good way.

It looks like one of those science kits you buy at a hobby store.

Thank you very much!

It definitely feels snappier than the iBook, but its no speed king. I downloaded UT2003 demo, and its just barely playable. Average 30 fps, but some times lower than 10 fps, which is unacceptable. So its not a game box :/

And I ran Setiathome before I went to bet. Its at just 70% after 7 hours. My Gentoo box (in the background behind the iBook) can do a packet in 3-4 hours.

Is the G4 really this slow? After years of hearing how great Altivec was, I'd figure I'd be more impressed. Maybe its the slow-ass 100 MHz bus.

Now I"m having second thoughts about building this thing.

And for some reason I can only get video out when I use direct DVI to my monitor. If I use DVI-VGA adapter to go to my KVM it doesn't get anything. Whats up with that?

D'oh. I feel dumb. The VGA cable on the monitor was loose.

You bought a REALLY slow-ass video card and a nearly 3.5 year old mobo. What did you expect? I'm sure it was a fun project... I'd love to build my own Mac.
Be happy.

Turn off all the eye candy settings and don't play the outdoor level.
