California faces its 3rd consecutive year of drought.

Gov. Schwarzenegger Takes Action to Address California’s Water Shortage

"Even with the recent rainfall, California faces its third consecutive year of drought and we must prepare for the worst - a fourth, fifth or even sixth year of drought," Governor Schwarzenegger said. "Last year we experienced the driest spring and summer on record and storage in the state's reservoir system is near historic lows.

China suffering worst drought in 50 years - CNN.com

China is suffering another natural disaster -- this time, the worst drought in half a century. The land is parched and the irrigation dams have dried up. Crops and livestock are dying.

Water levels in some Chinese rivers are well below their average with 50 to 80 percent less rain than last year.

China on Thursday raised the drought-emergency-alert level from orange to red and allocated an additional $44 million dollars on top of the $13 million in emergency aid already released.

Africa, particularly Kenya and Ethiopia faces worst drought in 10 years.

Ethiopia Requests $175 Million in Aid as Drought Crisis Looms - WSJ.com

The Ethiopian government issued an international plea for $175 million in emergency aid amid a massive drought in East Africa, underscoring the country's bleak condition 25 years after a famine killed one million people.

Floods in the South of France a couple of days ago.
Floods in Turkey, in September.
Floods in the Philippines, beginning of October.
Floods in India kill hundreds, beginning of October.
Heavy snowfall in the Czech Republic.

Sure that I could find some other stuff if you like.

Deep in the Texas drought area, it was interesting to watch. My pond went dry, just like it did a couple of decades ago. But now we're dealing with floods. Lady swept away yesterday. El Nino is back.

Holy Crap! I better go out and buy a Prius now before we have MORE weather that we have experienced before!
Being in debt and celebrating a lower deficit is like being on a diet and celebrating the fact you gained two pounds this week instead of five.

In this area, it's the wettest October in over 20 years.

Yea...

Here in Illinois we've been having a ridiculously wet year. I'm not sure we're going to get a clean harvest.

Best check your HFCS for mold this year.

But really, this is weather we're experiencing. Can't really straight up blame this on global warming as these places have been having droughts throughout history. Here's food for the eco-idiot thought: Desertification in Africa may be slowing down global warming, because the Sahara sand is Iron seeding the Atlantic and allowing algae growth which is generating biomass consuming carbon dioxide. Who are you going to cheer for?!

It's hard for me to concentrate on droughts right now. It rained for 24 of 29 days here, and my parents are staying in my house with us because their entire neighborhood is facing a serious flood because a levee is overflowing. It's been close to breaking since Thursday night.

WTH indeed.

As far as I can tell, there is no cause - effect relationship between the "dry" and the crack forming.
