This may be a silly question, but I notice some people would say they have the Rev C or Rev D PowerBook, and I was just wondering what that means. And how do you determine which PowerBook you own is which?

I've only been a PowerBook user for a week now, and been trying to learn the most I can about them. Thanks!

12"

Rev A: 867 MHz, mini-VGA (no DVI)
Rev B: 1 GHz, mini-DVI
Rev C: 1.33 GHz, mini-DVI
Rev D: 1.5 GHz, mini-DVI

I don't remember what the revs are for the 15" or 17" (somebody else here I'm sure can fill you in), but there have been 3 revs of the aluminum 15" and 4 of the 17". This is what people are referring to.

Probably can accuse me of nitpicking, but shouldn't there be an original platform, followed by revisions? So in this case it would be:

Orig.: 867 MHz, mini-VGA (no DVI)
Rev A: 1 GHz, mini-DVI
Rev B: 1.33 GHz, mini-DVI
Rev C: 1.5 GHz, mini-DVI

I've seen people refer to my 15-inch PB as both Rev C and Rev D and I'd probably call it a Rev C.

well, the idea is, they are all revisions of the powerbook in general.
so the first 12" "alubook" , for example, is a revision of the basic pb.

anyway...
seems like apple's way of selling macs without the general public keeping track of what's newest (ie all the macs, the ipod...no distinct consumer model names)
