I just reformatted my Mac, and backed up a good portion of my data using Disk Images (since my backup space was a windows comp, and it didn't like a lot of my file names).
All of them have remounted fine, EXCEPT one.
This one contained some pretty irreplacable data which I've built up over 3 or so years.
It won't mount though. Doing so leaves me with the dialog:
" "xxxxxx.dmg" failed to mount due to error 95. (no mountable file systems)
The disk image was created exactly the same as all the others (dragging the folder onto Disk Copy, with the same settings). The 1.96gb, if that is of any relevance. I've copied the dmg's back onto the mac hd before mounting them (this one, I've copied over twice)
Can anybody tell how to mount this, or any other workaround to get my precious data?

Anyone?
I've read through some apple kbase stuff - and the only vague suggestion was that it was a permissions problem potentially - so I've run disk utility and repaired all permissions - that's all good. I've ever tried logging into Root to do it. Still no go though. I really do need to get what's inside this disk image.

Which OS are you running? If this problem is occuring in OS X, try booting up in OS 9 to mount the .dmg (or vice versa).

I haven't reinstalled os 9 yet. how do I do it over os x?

well I just tried in OS 9 (i didn't have to install it! just ran it off the boot cd), but os 9's disk copy wouldn't mount any DMG, said it didn't recognise the file format. Even on the dmg's that mounted fine before.

I have heard suggestions in the past that disk images containing files from OS 9 and below can be damaged by storage on windows due to resource forks being stripped out.. but I don't know how accurate that is...

I've gotten this error as well, and it just didn't open. I think it may have been a bad transfer to the backup disk?

I'm getting this same error now too.
A buddy of mine can open the files just fine, but I get that error 95.
Any progress on a solution?
Thanks.
