I kid you not
I just looked down, and just to the right of my direction keys, is a small white worm, about 1cm long, crawling along
I can't get it out either, as it's under that bit of plastic, between the right key, and the 0 of the num pad....

anybody have any suggestions disposing of the worm???

ahh... crisis over
got it out

took the surrounding keys out, and slid a thin piece of paper underneath, pushed it along to the well at the bottom, then used the paper again to flick it out.
found a dead silverfish under the 0 key too....

what I want to know, is how the hell they got in there in the first place...

Nathan Adams any relation to Sammy Adams???

ahh Sam Adams Golden Pilsner, good stuff!!

Best advice I could give you a if you ever get something inside under your keyboard, use a vaccumm cleaning with a hose attachment, I had someone throw confetti around my room like a nightmarish RIP torn, and I got 1 piece in there and it drove me nuts.

Also, clean man, clean....

Later,

i would vaccum it out, but it wouldn't get anything. most of the stuff is literally stuck - as i accidently spilt an entire glass of Pepsi over it once. ( hence some unsighltly sticky patches under the clear plastic bits.)

No relation to sammy adams
don't think I've ever heard of the beer actually...

Kinda OT, but I had a GameBoy that was INFESTED with ants. There had to be thousands in there, just as many dead ones rattling around too.

No ants anyhere else. No trail leading to the GameBoy. I hadn't taken it out of my bag for months. No ants in the bag.

I turned it on and it still worked! Though I was hoping for a satisfying sizzle as some ants shorted out.

The question I still can't answer is "what the hell did they eat?" At the point I found it they were probably eating each-other, but what fed them in the beginning?

Is purple clear GameBoy plastic edible? Circuit boards? Batteries?

P.S.: When I replaced my HD a month ago, I found an severely dessicated ant who had tried to crawl into the spindle of my hard drive.

Just one though, so I think I'm okay.

What a bizzare (and yet somehow captivating) thread!

Cant say Ive had in creatures in my keyboard yet, but i did spill a whole bottle over my original apple pro keyboard.

It eventually dried out but now the left ctrl and apple keys dont seem to work.

I replaced it with a logitech elite pro keyboard, and Ive been very happy with it....

What horrifying stories. I really hope nothing alive is ever found inside any computer I own.

The moral of this post is: Hey DON'T DRINK AND TYPE!!!

Sorry Nathan Adams, I didn't realize you're in Australia. Cheers!

Samuel Adams is a BEER that's made in Texas, in the US. I'm surprised that it isn't served worldwide though.

Well, hopefully it's better than FOSTER's
(I met an Australian lady who said that FOSTER's beer was joke! )

Who knows what lurks under some people's KEYS on their keyboard?

Sam Adams is actually a Boston based brewery, although they do have plants in PA, OH, and Oregon. Claim to be the best beer in the US.

I heard that XXXX and Victoria Bitter is the stuff to drink down under, Foster's is only for tourists.

Fosters is absolute shite. Indeed - it's only for tourists.
XXXX and VB are awful too.
although VB is indeed very popular, as is Carlton Draught.

I'm from Adelaide, where we make beer right. Coopers, is the only family owned brewery left in Aus, and they make the most fantastic Pale Ale (along with sparkling and dark ales). We're the envy of every other state.
There's an export Coopers too, so I suggest you check out any good liquour stores with imported beers

The incident wasn't actually drinking at the computer. I had a glass well at other end of the table, nearly a metre. I walked past and somehow collected the glass with my hand, and sent it flying towards my mac. I got a tiny bit on the screen, but mostly all over my keyboard and wacom tablet.
And this was at about 4 in the morning too...
(so you can imagine the muffled swearing..)

i vouch for Nathan's comments on coopers, its great stuff. I have my own coopers micro brewery at home

However, in my opinion, vb, carlton draught, and fosters are all decent standard lagers in australia. Coopers is a premium lager, and you pay a price for that premium.

Other notable australian beers are james boags, cascade, crown lager and toohey's (especially pils).

Coopers stout is great too from memory, but guiness is cheaper here so its hard to choose it....

we seem to be going off topic from live insects in our apples to alcohol (more precisly beer) not that it is a bad move though

Sorta on topic...

Anybody ever notice how the Apple Pro keyboards are designed to filter everything into the circuit board?

There are two small holes basically right under the "v" and "m" keys. I let loose with a barrage of Mountain Dew on my keyboard one night (actually my old iMac's CD door opening up did it...and yes I'm dumb to put something in front of it).

The stupid keyboard is DESIGNED to filter everything into those two little holes it seems. At least if you spill 4 ounces or more in there, since it let's you form a small puddle before it drains into the holes.

(that's me poking Apple's engineers)

(and here's me yelling at them for being dumb)

No bugs yet though.

Well, supposedly, the term "bug" in the computer world originated in 1945 when a moth somehow found its way into the Mark II and caused it to malfunction.

Just thought that that was somewhat related to Nathan Adams' problem.

Ah, and I don't think I've ever had Samuel Adams beer. Maybe I'll have some next time.

I find like skin and stuff in my keyboard that's it... no bugs... I don't think any bugs could crawl onto my desk... I mean I eat at the comp for like 50% of my meals so I dono... it's weird... maybe it's just cause we have fridges temps for most of the year?

Fosters is Australias way of taking the piss out of the Brits.

Best Aus beer is Coppers or VB.

VB is Victoria's idea of taking the piss out of Sydney.

Cooper's Red or Hahn Witbier will grease anyone's mouse wheel good and proper

I wonder if my "wind tunnel" MDD is sucking ants off the floor and into its futuristic looking bug and air intake vents. On a not so similar note, my friend found pieces of bread in two of his cars about 2 years apart, just something about finding things in places they don't belong.
