One problem with the iPhone that I haven't heard mentioned before...

OK, it's not really a problem with the iPhone per se. But allow me to explain. One of the reasons the iPhone really appealed to me was that in the past I would often leave the house with only my cell phone, my wallet, and my keys. I've had a number of PDAs, but I usually didn't bother to bring them with me, because they weren't strictly necessary, and the "holy trinity" of cell phone, wallet, and keys already took up enough space. Now I can leave the house with the functional equivalent of my iPod, PDA, and cell phone. I'm sure a lot of people were thinking the same thing when the bought the iPhone.
However, if you want to listen to the iPod function, you're going to need some earphones/headphones. But where do you put them? Today I ended up forgetting to bring my earphones and was left without music while I worked in a cafe, even though I had my iPhone with me. Not good.
So I've been looking for something that would solve this dilemma.
I suppose the Sidewinder case from Marware is a possibility, as it has a thing you can wind your headphone cord around, but I don't want a case and I don't like the looks of it very much.
The other thing I've been looking at is the Earbuddy from Sendstation.
I hate the orange and silver color, but they also come in all black, which looks pretty good. Since it can function as a keychain, I can always have my headphones with me. I'm leaning toward this. Anyone have any other possibilities?

For that matter, where do you keep the cleaning cloth? My RAZR gets yucky from my face pressing against its display, and that's pretty small compared to the iPhone's. A microfiber cloth would be great, but where to put it? It's beginning to sound like you need a "bat belt" to keep everything you might need to have handy for your iPhone. Not at all cool. And while a briefcase toting office person could indeed put everything in a small spot in the briefcase, what about those of us who do NOT carry one-and wouldn't unless forced to?

I keep misplacing my headphones. I have both the orange and black Earbuddys, unboxed, around my apartment somewhere. I was looking for them this morning. I think that that will be the best bet since I take my keys with me everywhere, and i wouldn't be caught dead with my cellphone attached to my belt.

Wallets drive me crazy, so I don't normally carry one. I usually just keep my driver's license, bank card and a couple of bucks in my pocket. I now carry the earbuds in the same pocket, but they're compact enough that they don't really bother me.

-How pumped would you be driving home from work, knowing someplace in your house there's a monkey you're gonna battle?

I'd like something to wrap my headphones in. That earbuddy looks ok, if maybe a bit overkill. I don't care about an iphone case. Maybe a sleeve type thing would be ok. A nice slim one. I carry around the iphone cleaning cloth thing. It's small and simple.

If only I wore shirts with pockets... Anyway, I ordered an earbuddy, so we'll see how that goes.

I put 'em into a tiny "snack" size zip-lok baggie in my pocket or fanny pack. It's so small that I often don't even notice 'em.

You could always just carry a purse like I do.
I like the earbuddy thing.

What, the iPhone's built in speaker isn't good enough for ya to rock out on?

I found the EarBuddys that I had. They work well but might be a little large, in my opinion, to hang off my keys.
I keep them in the EarBuddy case and then end up putting that into my backpack, or my car glovebox. I've damaged headphones before in my glovebox, so the EarBuddy is very protective and a lot neater.

Looks like a good solution, my question for you is, how hard is it to wrap the earbuds in the case? Quick and easy or Long and frustrating, opposite ends so. I am wondering because I do not want to spent a few minutes every time I want to put my earbuds up to sit there having to wrap them up. Though it is better than just throwing them in my backpack where they will get crushed easily.

Thanks for the pics mdc. I was wondering if that case might be just a bit too big to keep on a keychain and your pics confirmed that. Still, a nice solution for tossing them into a backpack...

Got my earbuddy today. It's probably right on the edge of being too big to carry on your keychain, but I think I'm going to use it that way. It's not that bad. It probably takes 20-30 seconds to wrap the cord up, although I can see getting pretty fast at it. Overall, I'd say it's very nice.

I use these...
Etymotic Research, Inc. - ER-4 MicroPro Insert Earphones
The picture doesn't show, but they come with a nice little storage pouch that looks way slimmer and less bulky than that earbuddy thing. Plus, at the low cost of $299, how could you say no?
EDIT: If you go to that link, you can click on the 'accessories' tab and see the pouch. It's only $4 and it should be able to hold most of the smaller earbud-type headphones.

Earbuddys look cool, gonna order those today (along with the car charger they have - looks better than the one I have now since it has a line out jack).

I'm aware of those, but I don't see how it solves my problem.
