Apple is planning to hold its next big press event on Tuesday, October 15, claims French Mac enthusiast site MacGeneration. The site doesn't have any more specifics, but does back up reports that iMac supplies are low, hinting at the likelihood of a refresh next month. Last year, Apple revealed both new Macs and new iPads at a special October event.
New iPads are expected to include a second-generation, Retina-equipped iPad mini, and a fifth-gen 9.7-inch tablet styled after the Mini, with thinner side bezels, a lighter weight, and less tapered edges. Aside from the iMac, the Mac mini and MacBook Pro should also see upgrades, namely to Intel's Haswell platform.

I hope the new Mac Pros have HDMI 2.0. As 4K creators will not buy the new Mac Pro, HDMI 2.0 is the successor to the HDMI 1.4a/b standard. HDMI 1.4 can support 4K resolutions, but only at 24 or 30 frames per second. Also HDMI 1.4 limits 4K Ultra HD content to 8-bit color, but it is capable of 10 or 12-bit color. HDMI 2.0 fixes all of that because it can handle up to 18 gigabits per second. There's few more reasons like better audio. So come on Apple future proof the first Mac Pro with the latest HDMI 2.0 standard, not the old 1.4.
