I had a PowerBook G3 (Lombard) which had the problem of screen scratching when the lid was closed. When I got my TiBook, getting a leather keyboard cover stopped the problem for it. Just wanted to know if the new iBooks have this problem as well.
Thanks.

i would imagine they do, i think this is just a product of the screen backing flexing and the keys hitting the screen.
i just put a piece of paper on my keys if im transporting my comp in my bag.
so yeah, its still there, but i dont think its anything huge.

I don't know about the G4 iBooks, but my G3 doesn't have this problem. I'm a little anal about my screen and check it often, I have never seen any marks from the keyboard on it.

My G3 500 and G3 700 iBooks didn't have the problem either. I think Apple worked the keyboard/LCD issue out of the iBooks a while ago. You should be quite safe.

the screen lid rubber pads on my ibook give much more clearance than my tibook. for what i've seen it seems the albooks have more clearance as well.

I have a G4 iBook, and I can tell you they do NOT get scratched. The only marks I have on my screen are from greasy fingers.

i find that if i have my g3 icebook in my messenger bag i still get this effect, might just be the pressure of having all the weight of the rest of the crap in there and the bag against my hip.
just a heads up, it still does happen, you just have to work for it.
