I sent a note to Handspring about OS X P and can if we expect to see a version of Palm Desktop for OS X.
The reply I got was (paraphasing here) "Not yet but keep an eye on our site".
So anytime between now and the final we can expect it. I hope

Why did you write to Handspring? The last time I checked it was a Palm product.

What about everyone emailing Palm about releasing Palm Desktop? I think many companies (apple included) underestimated the general interest in the Public Beta, its not just for developers anymore .

That true. I thought a lot of them would be ready to go considering the beta was supposed to be the final.

Well, Apple has it on their "Optimised for MacOS X" list on the product guide, as if it was already available, along with various other CURRENTLY AVAILABLE shareware and commercial products. It even has the text "Mac OS X version available" on the product page.

Where is it?
I also saw that there is a command-line hotsync program that has been ported. It is called Coldsync.

Well the desktop does work.... it's just hotsyncing that doesn't.
I suspect that I'll have to wait for the final MacOS X release to get IR syncing from my laptop working again. Time to start lugging wires about again :-(

It does?? The one that comes with OS9 definitely goes into Classic. Where do I get the version that works in X?
Of course, if HotSync still doesn't work, that doesn't buy me much.
Thanks!
(P.S. Palm hasn't responded to me yet... of course, I expect the same answer... "But OS X is a beta... you can't expect us to support a beta!" Okay, I can't *expect* it.. but I can certainly beg... and suggest others to beg similarly. ;^)

A Carbonized Palm Desktop was shown at the MacWorld Expo (I think) keynote. There was no firm commitment to ship on a specifi date. But it did sound as though it would be ready by the time final came arround.

I know. What I and some others can't figure out is that Apple's own Mac OS X site lists the Palm Mac Pac as Mac OS optimized and AVAILABLE NOW, right along side Quake 3, Audion, and various Cocoa apps that have been going through revs since dp3.
According to Apple, I should be able to go out right now anf download/buy it somewhere. Where?? I realize that hot sync might not work until some drivers come out, but I would just like to run the App. I can sync when I boot into MacOS 9.
