Monitor image randomly pops - image then smeared

	Just like the Subj says. My 17" ASD (crt) will every couple days pop (not audibly) and the image will look 'smeared', from left to right. I can tap the monitor on the left side near the Apple logo and it will pop back into the properly imaged screen. This happens totally randomly.. sometimes after long use, sometimes after wake ups..sometimes at start up - whenever I don't have warranty on this anymore so I hope it's not going to be an expensive fix, it being an Apple product, well.. Anyone help?
