How do you make the hip little tabs with dragthing? I've used it a bit, and been generally frustrated trying to make anything comparable.

Those tabs are actually from Drop Drawers X. Its default setup is pretty ugly, but with a little bit of fiddling you can get it looking halfway decent.

comparable with what? in digitaljames' shot it looks like a dock without layers (meaning no tabs). in DragThing you can change tab styles in Preferences > Appearance, but you're limited to Aqua, DragThing, and Compact tab styles. Aqua uses the system tab styles, and depending on the theme you might get some pretty cool tabs that replace it, but even those will be roughly the same dimensions, so nothing too exciting will happen.

if you really want special tabs you'll need to open up ThemePark and design some for yourself.
DigitalRamen sucks.

My Desktop :: Blue Reason

It is okay to give your desktop names, right?

Desktop Image is an original artwork for a recent book & cd-rom project, Power Tools for Reason. They are available on my site with resolutions as high as 1920 by 1200 for those of you with big boy monitors.

I also created (or converted) the desktop icons, including one of the basketball god, Air Jordan! I am a system with Launchbar and Fruitmenu (two awesome shareware applications), and permanently work without the dock. Enjoy!

No offense, but how do you work on that computer? With all the transparency and the busy background that shows through the windows, it all looks like one giant...blob. However, I suppose this is what makes GUI mod'ing awesome, yes? You can modify your system so it's set up the way you like it. :)
I'd probably get dizzy and throw up if I used your computer for too long, but that's why you're using it and not me, eh?
;)

For a beta its surprisingly complete. I have a few screen caps to send you on some minor stuff. Mostly issues with text and some artifact things. I'm thinking its related to the black theme problems that are waiting on SS 1.5. One of Kevins themes has the same problems so.....I'll insert a plug to have an alternate variation with the silver material dominate. The top bar just looks so sweet.

OK Cool! I'll wait for your message. About the artefacts, I'm pretty sure that I'm aware of them but as you said they seem to be inherent to black themes.. (smeger please, please SS1.5 )
Ok for the variant..

I can't remember the exact site, but one of the many that have anime type backgrounds. Had to crop it as well because the original size was 1280x1024. Didn't look too good on a widescreen crunched up at that size. If you like I could send it to you or something like that.
