For 6 reasons:
1. Rumors of having been designed by Steve Jobs
2. Rumors of being bigger screened than the current body model
3. Wallets clenched at the prospect of "upgrading" to 4S
4. LTE
5. iPhone market feeling splurgey on 2012h2
6. Apple's marketing department should have had enough vacation now

And 5 potential dreams come true
1. Modest CPU upgrade, to offer a more appropriate 15 hour work time
2. Indestructible
3. Same weight as iPhone 4
4. Exclusive iOS 6 features, which would be under wraps until the reveal of the new iPhone
5. Waterproof

However, if any of those 11 points fails to materialize, the new iPhone will tank like no other Apple product ever did.

RIP Apple 2012? Long live Android or whatever comes to pick up the pieces? Sell your AAPL now?

Ah, excellent.

Apple is the most valuable company on the ****ing planet, and the numbnuts are back with the death-knell clanging.

The chants of "Apple is doomed!" - how I've missed thee...

Yeah. Without Jobs, there is nobody at Apple that has any vision.
Good grief! Can we dispense with the Apple is doomed crap once and for all?

Oh, wait I minute. His post was satire.
Now I get it.

If the iPhone 5 doesn't come with a unicorn, Apple will fail.
The era of anthropomorphizing hardware is over.

Thanks for calling it "the new iPhone", and not "the iPhone 5", like MacNN did in their front page teaser for this thread. I don't get how some people can still use that term without instantly feeling like a complete moron. As has been pointed out in similar threads for the last couple of months, there will be no iPhone 5. The fourth generation of the iPhone was (appropriately) called iPhone 4, the fifth was called iPhone 4S. They sure as hell won't call the sixth generation "iPhone 5", especially since they've already dropped the numbering with the iPad.

So, please, for the love of God: MacNN editors, get over it.

I think the 4S left a lot of people with iPhone 4 handsets not feeling a need to upgrade. The 4S is a great phone but even Siri wasn't a killer holy crap I need that feature. But I'm really hoping that the new iPhone is going be an iPhone 4S with a slightly tweaked design and a seriously powerful processor. That's my biggest hope. I don't even care about LTE since Rogers doesn't have LTE where I live. I'll get great battery life.
