Hi, I intended to install OSX.1 this weekend on my powerbook g4, only minutes before installing I found out I threw away the original OSX cd and now only have the OSX.1 update left.
I heard rumours that you can crack the update so you can install X.1 anyhow on a non OSX preinstalled computer.

The problem right now is that the update boots from 9.2.2 , all the way to the license agreement, but when I have to pick a drive to install to, they all remain dimmed because no previous version of OSX was installed

1. Insert 10.1 upgrade CD

2. Make Read/Write image of the CD using Toast

3. Mount image

4. Navigate to System/Installation/Packages/Essentials.pkg/Contents/Resources

5. Remove CheckForOSX

6. Unmount the image

7. Burn the image in Toast

That should do it. When I did it, I used Disk Copy in OSX to make and burn the images (I just wanted a bootable full 10.1 CD). Hopefully Toast will work for you. If not, maybe Disk Copy 6.4 in OS 9. Good luck...
