i ordered my first mac (powerbook) on the 23 sept and it finally arrived last week ive just got used to using mac os but i cant find any sort of word processing programme on it. As i am a student i find this very annoying and and was shocked when i looked at the prices for mircosoft office for mac. Is there anyway of word processing on mac os without parting with 169 for office?

TextEdit is included with OS X and is quite fine for your basic word processing needs.

Well AppleWorks comes with iMacs and iBooks. Apple figures that if you're gonna pay the price for its pro line, you have the money to get Office. There is an educational version for sale, as well as a 30 day demo of Office.

You can get Office Mac v.X (or Office 10.0 as I think it's now called) in the UK for 110 - Amazon.
