Sweat equity? Do you think put in a fancy term for "shoveling" makes the dibs argument more reasonable?

This is a legitimate problem? People both deface the signs and others can't understand the original intent?

The defacing is a problem, but I imagine most can still figure out the intent.

It's all pretty bad. The dice hurt, the rice causes pigeons to explode, and the mice attract snakes.

oh hai, snowing again! At least we had a brief sunny time to rake the snow off the roof and try to break up the ice dams.

Definitely irked this guy ....

We've all dreamed of seeking revenge on the wintertime marauders who steal parking spots after someone finishes the back-breaking work of shoveling them out.

But this drunk St. Louis man took things too far last week, and he's facing two felony guns charges because of it.

After a snowstorm dumped several inches of powdery snow on St. Louis, Terry Moore, 52, shoveled out a spot for his car near his home in the 4100 block of Botanical Avenue, in the Shaw neighborhood, just before midnight on Wednesday night.

But things took a turn when a driver stole the parking space before Moore had a chance to move his car, witnesses told FOX 2 (KTVI-TV).

Moore pulled out his shotgun and fired in front of several onlookers in an apparent attempt to scare off the cheater who'd stolen his shoveled-out parking spot.
Moore didn't hit any of the witnesses, but a police investigator says she found a hole and a shotgun shell near where Moore pulled the trigger.

Moore isn't allowed to possess a gun after being convicted on a felony charge of receiving stolen property in 2004. Police searched his house and found another gun, a silver pistol.

Even if Moore were allowed to have a gun, he was way too drunk to be using it, police said.

"He admitted to me that he was drunk," police investigator Melissa Chavez writes in the probable cause statement. "While speaking to him, I could smell alcohol on his breath, his speech was slurred, he was not properly clothed for the weather, and his gait was unsteady."

Sounds drunk to us.

Moore is charged with one count of unlawful possession of a firearm and one count of unlawful use of a loaded weapon while intoxicated. He's held on a $30,000 cash-only bail and faces an eleven-year prison sentence.

Next time, Moore, just dump the snow back on the car like everyone else.

It's 18º out and its 20º warmer than yesterday. When it hits 40º I'm liable to be found outside in shorts, its so warm by comparison.

14.6° was the average temp here throughout February. Only one colder February on record.

I'm ready for this to be done now.

It was 12 degrees last night in Sterling, VA (Northwest of DC by about 22 miles) but they are forecasting it to be 55 by mid-week. Our 9.5" snow had an ice sheet under it, so the plows made very little difference in our sub-divison.

Yeah... here it's 16°, but is supposed to be 50° tomorrow.

I've officially decided to pack up the long underwear for the season. It needs to be below 10 for it to be worth the itchies.

Washington, DC (not Michigan...although I still consider Michigan my home). If all goes as planned, my fiancé and I will be returning to the States at the end of the year... FINALLY... after 10 years! We just submitted the paperwork for his K-1 visa this month.

It's been monsooning here in east-central Indiana, off and on, all day. In the 80's most of the day, too. We had hail with the monsoon early this afternoon.

IIRC aren't you in Cali? If so how could you be upset with rain in a middle of a drought?

Cannot one judge the scale of the "problem" based on the pre-defaced sign the buildings elected to have designed, printed, and displayed?
