Godaddy's starting to piss me off. They limit what you can do at the script level to the point where things are starting to break left and right. I tried installing MovableType 3 yesterday and it doesn't work. People have been complaining about godaddy and now it's starting to affect me. I need a host that doesn't limit what you can do with scripts, and if possible, offers the ability to telnet/ssh into my domain space. Anyone?

what about http://www.15minuteservers.com. Same as NAC. I'm sure the sales people can work something out for you. If 15 minute servers doesn't have what you are looking for call the NAC sales dept and they could also help you out.

Sorry for the cheap schill of the company I work for. I noticed you are in NJ. We are an NJ company so it's pretty local to you from Parsippany.

I've heard rumors that Scott offers pretty cheap hosting as long as you don't bug him (much) for tech support, and that it's pretty feature rich, other than not having ssh access. The rumor said to email or PM him to ask about it.

a third for dreamhost. if you do use them, use the 777 coupon for a year of their cheapest service for $9.

$9 to test them for a year, not too shabby.

Gotta plug dreamhost as well. Aside from the great plans and service they have afp enabled on accounts. So you can hit Command-K and type in 'afp://www.yourdomain.com' and it will appear as an Appleshare folder on your desktop. Quite nice.

Tell em I sent ya.

I've currently got sites on Westhost, HostIgnition and GoDaddy. Of the three HostIgnition is definately the cheapest and has been relatively trouble-free, but the one time I did have problems (e-mail) I found the support to be rather lacking.

I've got some PHP working on GoDaddy (blog, gallery, bbs), and I haven't had any trouble with them so far, but I think WestHost has been the most responsive in terms of service.

I'm looking to switch too. I have a site on Fat Cow which was great until they "upgraded" to a new platform... now there is no longer any IMAP mail access (only POP), and they seem to have eliminated to tools to manage directories (password protection in particular). I had no problem and would have easily recommended them before the switch. I have another site with a business partner of mine on Go Daddy, and honestly, I'm not impressed. Now I'm considering switching everything over, likely to Dreamhost. The only question is, who gets the referral?

Hah!

Well, himself, I'd say gather all the names and pick one at random. Oh, and I'd also say not to put me on that list since rozwado1 was kind enough to hook me up with a referral from this thread already. (Unless you really want to, in which case I'd say go for it! )
