Well I just got a MAC from my friend, but he still left some of his personal items on it, how can I restore the computer to its factory settings, but just one thing, WITHOUT the Boot Disks? He told me he lost them, so how would I restore to factory settings?

Get a copy of Leopard and do an Erase and Install.

Note that that won't quite work. It'll only reinstall the MacOS, not the iLife suite. You'd need both a retail version (or the version of the disks that came with that machine) of the MacOS and iLife.

Assuming your friend's files are in a users Home folder, just create a new User account for yourself and it'll be almost like new.

Otherwise Leonard's method is the best factory fresh feel.

Check eBay for install disks for EXACTLY your kind of Mac. It may take some searching and waiting, but it's the best way.
