Last week I felt the urge to splurge money on something completely unneccessary, so I got myself a 22" LCD, attached it to my (hitherto headless) mac mini server setup and wall mounted the whole thing in my living room.
Now. What do I put on the bloody thing for idle time and when I have guests? Ideas?

Thanks for stimulating the economy.
There's nothing more helpful than senseless spending.

Go buy a video game console. You'll never play it, but since you seem to get off on spending money on things you'll never use, I'm sure you'll enjoy it all the same!
Hell, hook the monitor up to a TV tuner and put on QVC and then buy everything that they sell.

Go to the aquarium and videotape an hour of some exotic fish swimming around, then put the video on a continuous loop on your screen. Bonus points for putting an empty fish tank of the same size in front of the screen, and a table with fish food for your guests to feed them with.

Atheist, the monitor doubles as my television, and therefore is usually showing pron of course.
Oooooh, Visigami looks nice, checking that out.
Uncle skeleton, that idea is delightfully scary ... Hmmmm... Or I might videotape a fireplace to use on romantic nights. Perfect for scaring away girls.
PS: Thanks for the constructive criticism of my blatant consumerism. I do realise that spending the huge sum of 300 dollars on a monitor for my mac is total and absolute insanity!

Everybody's still riled up from the SUV thread and apparently buying anything is a terrible idea.

No one needs an LCD bigger than 15".

Ah yes, that's some excellent compensation you've got there. I went for the Acer 2216. It's surprisingly good quality given the price.
And Visigami rules! Currently set to look for "cheeks" on Google image search which made for the occasional interesting conversation tonight...

This is a little different. Hugi's first post implied that he just up and bought a monitor completely randomly without having any idea what to do with it. I see now that he's actually using it, he's just looking for suggestions on how to use it better in specific situations.
I don't have anything more to contribute, but I just wanted to clear that up.

Use it to display tons of pictures with friends, family, etc.
Everyone loves stopping and staring and pictures.

Have it display a picture of a display mounted on a wall.

Seconded.
I'll usually have the photo screensaver from the AppleTV up.
Actual slideshows (where you sit people down and force them to look at the pictures) are the worst thing ever, and generally horribly boring to boot.
On the other hand, The constantly changing set of pictures in the background draws people in like flies. It's both a conversation starter, and something to go to other than awkward silence should a conversation end.
People really do like it.

If you host parties and events put the iTunes visualizer up on it... people are mesmerized by it.
