1.0 is buggy. They've submitted a 1.2 version which fixes a lot of bugs.

1Password is a phenomenal application; it's worth every penny IMO.

I agree with lavar. It's more like 1Password created an incredible, free, mobile version of their paid mac app (I got mine through the machiest bundle a while ago) rather than "baitware."

Files, which uses WebDav to allow easy file storage and access from both Macs and PCs is looking nice.

I bought it and it works flawlessly so far. I'm hoping they'll add a few features down the road, like allowing files to be moved and copied directly from the iPhone interface, but it fills a huge hole for me right now.

A nicely done, free Solitaire app. Simple, yet clean and intuitive. And its one of the few free Solitaire apps.

Sports Tap is a great free app for following quite a few different sports. Though it is a bit US centric at the moment.

Sports Tap - Has a bigger variety of sports to choose from (added Olympics in the latest release) and the local teams feature is pretty cool too.

Sportactular - Has player stats, news and player tracking for your fantasy teams.

There is a multi client IM app called IM+. It works fairly well. There could be some improvements, but it does the basic function alright.

IM+ is definitely a step forward for IM on the iPhone, notwithstanding the need for "improvements." Of course, the biggest shortcoming is the iPhone's refusal to run these types of apps in the background. If I am working on my comp, then I'll leave an IM client open just in case a friend logs on; on the other hand, you won't see me idly staring at my IM+ app on my iPhone waiting for the person I want to talk to log on while I am holding a PHONE in my hand.

I think IM is reluctantly dying out. In my own contact list, the number of "buddies" who regularly log-on has seemed to dwindle to about a 1/4 of what I could expect in, say, 1998. With the advent of SMS and email-capable mobile devices, I think the mainstream market has already let IM fall by the wayside.

Of course, video IM is the potential revival of the whole deal, but alas, we are far off from seeing that on the iPHone.

Beejive IM. I had been holding out hope that MobileChat would be updated sometime this century but eventually folded and dished out the $$ for Beejive. I love this app - it's by far the best IM app available for the iPhone - it's full featured and very polished, unlike a lot of 1.0 apps we've seen released.

GTS World Racing.

At $2.99 it's dirt cheap right now (offer ends Oct 19). And from what I have seen it appears to be one of the best (if not the best) racing app available at the App Store.

VCN -free app. I freaked out a few friends while showing them me controlling my MacBook on the iPhone. Useless, but priceless when showing off. Akin to iPint.

Wide Email - only .99, and worth the landscape typing feature. It also saves drafts.
My typing speeding is scarily fast with wide mode, nearing desktop speed (or at least it feels that way compared to portrait mode in Mail).

I'm a graphic designer, so I've been testing out some of the ones here Top 20 iphone apps and also graphic design iphone apps. My favourite is Brian Eno's Oblique Strategies, in the second link. Good for inspiration on a slow day.

Indeed, that and a few others are seemingly obvious, but irritating omissions. Personally, I am finding that the iphone interface quickly slows down after a few hours of rebooting. And with the version 2.2 update, it's even slower than before.

But overall, I still love the thing.

i still love my iPhone even with all the features it SHOULD have that arnt there. i use both my iPhone and a blackberry, and sometimes i wish i could make the two of them spawn a new phone, lol. Personally i know i will ditch the iPhone the day the Nokia N97 comes out, but that is just me.

The free version of Road Trip is really great for keeping an eye on your vehicle's mileage. Everyone at work uses Twitter, so I use Twitterfon (also free) to update mine. Pixelpipe is great for uploading photos to multiple locations (I use Flickr and Twitpix). Sol Free, Topple, and Pyramid lite are good free games. I also use iGroup to create and manage contact list groups, so that I don't have to do it on a computer. Now if only the same could be done for photo albums...
