Hi all.

I want to save up and ask for money for christmas so i can buy a new mac.
I should have about £130 (or $260 ) to spend so what should i get?

I might get an iMac but the CRTs worry me. So i thought perhaps a power mac?
I would like a nice processer (500mhz+) and one that i could upgrade (like HD, disk drive,os x (panther, tiger), ram, processor?) and firewire?
What should i get?

any help would be cool.

i'm still thinking. everymac.com seems to be down, so if it comes up, check there for current used prices. that will be a good starting point.

Looks like for right at/around $300, you could get a bottom of the line (350 mhz) AGP Graphics (sawtooth) Power Mac G4. those machines allow for dual boot too (OS 9 / OS X).

everything in there is upgradeable (graphics, cpu, harddrive, etc).

looks like you really need to save $100 more to get closer to $400 if you can to open up some more options. $260 is tough.

Lowend G4, definately. Anything with an AGP slot. Then when you can save up just a bit more money, you can get a video card that supports CoreImage and you'll have a pretty sweet system.

I was gonna say I hope you forgot a zero on those figures, but then I read about ebay. Is it even worth buying such a low end mac?
