K, kids,
I just saw it two hours ago. All I have to say is: Paul Reubens jacked off to the wrong movie.

Well I won't tell you anything about it if you act like that.
I would've posted something more substantive when its actually released and more people have seen it.
However, this movie is a huge departure from any of Tarantino's previous works. Yes it was jaw-dropping, halarious, and bloody (damn was it violent ). Kill Bill was all I expected it to be, entertaining, just as was QT's sole aim. Yet I still don't know what to think of it; I'll have to see it again, and I'll have to see the second volume. But what I think really detracted from it was it's truncation. With one volume, it seems too short, not as substantive, and with an unfinished ending (of course).
But when people ask me how it was, I'll still say: "holy f*cking sh*t."

Well, guess what? I've already seen the whole thing and you're off the mark. It is definitely not a departure from any of his previous works. If you're wondering what's different, it's his improved style and a new cinematographer (the guy who did cinematography for Martin Scorsese's Bring out the Dead). Even with a new cinematographer, there's still lot of his trademark shooting works.

Many reviewers such as this one strongly disagree with you.
We should remember that there are kind of people that like to complain and complain for the teeny simple stuffs... You fit in that crowd very well
As for the movie, I'm speechless. Just.. wow. Gore, action, cinematography and everything was all done with high attention to details. The story is a little corny but it fits in the movie theme very well. I really enjoyed from the beginning to end and I will be there on February 20, 2004.
Quentin's definitely back now. This will be another cult hit

I'm leaving to see this in about 30 minutes. Wish me luck....
Tomorrow it's Mystic River and School of Rock. Not necessarily in that order. My wife insists that we see Mystic River second, but I say we watch the heavy pic first and follow it up with the lighter pic, just so we're not still laughing at our memories of the first film during the second. Thoughts?

So, I finally got tickets for the 12:15 am showing... i figure that will be a fun audience. I went to see Jackie Brown opening night, that was a lot of fun... so i expect the same tonight. hmm... have to find a good place to have a nice dinner with my girlfriend before the show

So I saw Kill Bill this afternoon. I am not a maniac QT fan, enjoyed reservoir dogs and really enjoyed pulp fiction. Hated Jacky Brown and generally find QT in interviews to be very obnoxious.
Regardless of this, Kill Bill was very entertaining although not groundbreaking. Beatiful shots, really simply beautiful the way that Christopher Doyle's cinematography is beautiful (chungking express, in the mood for love, etc). Extreme amount of violence and gore. More than I have seen in a long time, maybe more than I have ever seen in a movie. I actually felt really desensitized to it towards the end.
I would say it is worth seeing if you are a QT fan, although I would say it is not really in the vein of his previous movies as far as dialogue is concerned. As an asian cinema fan, there were so many great references that I really enjoyed, but this movie is very enjoyable for someone just looking for pure action. I am really looking forward to the second part.

Firstly, UMA THURMAN IS HOT HOT HOT
Other than that, great movie, awesome direction, great acting by uma and others.. but esp. Uma.
Only gripe: too much japanese. i hate having to read the subtitles and miss out on the expressions. and that kinda gives reservoir dogs an edge up on this one. but again, UMA wins it back.
She's stunning.

Saw it last night and I can't say that I liked it. what was the point? No story no character development, no suspense just a bunch of arms and legs being chopped off. Worthless Tarentino is a one trick pony= violence violence and more violence.

Oh thank you for reminding me that 50% of the movie I saw last night was NOT giving me information about the childhood and teen years of one O-Ren Ishii.

It was an introduction to the character. Through out the movie once we were introduced to the characters they did not change thus my comment.

If you go watch a QT movie and expect a story line or a POINT, then you gotta know better. Surprisingly tho. this one did have a better "story line" than the others.

I haven't seen it yet, and although I loved Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, I'm not expecting to be much more than mildly entertained by Kill Bill. We'll see...

The gratucious blood is just a symbol. You have to THINK why it's there.
Overall very nice (anime was nice too!)
But I,ll have to see it again.. I was high when I saw it today.. a bit hard to understand

the blood spaying was a style choice and homage to Anime films, along with all the other homages it plays to, bruce lee, 7 Samuri, etc. Was an amazing flick. I loved it and can't wait for volume 2.

Caught it yesterday, and I don't think I can really recommend it. Uma was great, but QT really needs to lay off the slow-mo. It was more of an homage to the long fight scenes in Matrix 2 than anything else.
I think this is one of those love-it-or-hate-it movies.

Ignorance! Long Matrix-style fight scenes were being done in Bruce Lee movies 30 years before!
What a great movie. Missing the traditional QT script, unfortunately; probably due to most of it being in Japanese I'd imagine. There were still the flashes of Tarantino-ness, though, even in the limited English dialogue. I can't wait for II, where there should be more English.
What a great soundtrack! Also typical Tarantino.
Overall,
greg

The movie was awsome. I loved every second of it. My only complaint is the fact that I have to wait 4 months to see the second half. Very annoying. 3 hours isn't that long, hell, I could have watched 6 hours of that.

It was a good movie, but dragged a bit in many scenes. I'd say it's his 3rd best work.
By the way, here is the script. Temptation... spoilers...

Saw the flick a few hours ago. What a beuatifully shot film! The colors, costumes and locations were amazingly good. Just like Tarantino, the style is impeccable. Everything is fit and designed well. The man is inventing cinematic paradigms faster than we can process them. His previous films have had a huge impact and I'd guess this one wil too. The extensive violence can really turn folks off, but for me it doesn't connect to the same sensors that go off when I see violence in real life. In film and games, when overdone and comical, it has no pain for me. I read here someone said nothing in this film was groundbreaking, I'd disagree.

No, that little tidbit right before the credits was originally placed after the credits, but moved at the last minute. That's why alot of reviewers said to stay tuned for the epilogue after the movie.

I loved it. I don't think I've ever seen Uma look so good (never been a big Uma fan).
Never got around to seeing Mystic River, since it's not out yet here in the sticks. But I did catch "School of Rock" on Sat. night. Hilarious. Loved all of it. I'm afraid, however, that seeing Jack Black in anything but a movie about Rock N Roll will be like watching Michael Jordan play baseball.
