I'm still debating on whether or not to get the 3G version. I'm not sure how much I'd use the 3G, but then again I don't want to feel like I jumped the gun and find that I want a 3G version after I've gotten the Wifi Only version.

Anyone want to help me make a decision?

(and no, I can't afford to get one of each)

I was in the choice of 3G or no 3G - if you have an iPhone the choice is easy - no 3G, this is not a laptop replacement so shouldn't be considered in decision making, at least for me I'll be pre-ordering the wifi version tonight!
15" Macbook Pro w/ Retina / 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 / 16 GB DDR3 Memory / 256 GB SSD / Backlit Keyboard / OSX El Capitan
Apple iPhone 6+ / 64GB (Silver) / Wi-Fi and AT&T LTE / Apple iPad 3rd Generation / 64GB Wi-Fi
New Apple TV 32GB / New Touchpad Remote / Netflix and Entire App Store (TWiT, YouTube, WatchESPN, TV Networks, Etc.)
Apple iPad Pro / 12.9" Retina Touchscreen / A9X Chip / 4-Speaker High-Fidelity Sound / Smart Keyboard Pro / Apple Pencil

I just pre ordered for pick up. I must have been one of the first because I kept refreshing the Apple Store in my local area's page, NOT the online store page. As soon as it loaded to a pre order for pick up option, I clicked through incredibly quickly, and just got a confirmation Email from Apple that it will be available for pick up on the 3rd.

I think this is smart on Apple's part: they will let the customer demand dictate how many iPads they need to ship to each store for this launch period. They seem like they are very prepared for massive demand. I can only imagine how full of iPads their stock rooms at Apple Stores will be as they ramp up for launch week. I believe Apple Stores are taking possession of shipments starting today, both stock for sales and units for employee training. We'll see some leaked pictures I am sure before April 3rd.

Apple has in the past advised shipping companies to hold back delivery until the official launch day. Just because a parcel arrives at the local delivery center on Wednesday doesn't mean you'll actually get it before Saturday.

Then again, in the past shipping companies have on occasion screwed up Apple's master plan and ended up shipping items earlier than they were supposed to. So it's rather likely somebody somewhere will post unpacking pics early.

Mine used to say it went from KY to AK but that it appeared in AK before it left KY, but now there is no reference to KY. In addition, it now says it is in San Diego (where I am) at 9am TOMORROW!

What good is a tracking system if it just guesses where the package will be the next day?

Here in Hongkong we're closest to the iPad rolling out of production line. yet, we can't pre-order from Apple Online. what an irony!

I have the same result as kman42 - the system is 'predicting' my iPad will arrive in Atlanta tomorrow at 9 AM. I wonder what would happen if I went up to the UPS facility on Friday evening...?

Mine is the same. Rumor is that Apple is withholding Customs forms to prevent these leaving KY and getting to local hubs too soon. According to the rumor (see MacNN front page), these have NOT yet cleared customs.

Don't hold your breath that it will arrive before Saturday.

I am just absolutely floored that after ordering the iPad at 8:32am on March 12th, that I will not have it on the 3rd...unless I walk into a Best Buy and just purchase one there on the 3rd. Nice work Apple!

Are you sure? The delays are only supposed to affect new purchases or unless UPS does not offer Saturday delivery in your area.

Yeah, unless you don't get Saturday delivery in your area (which is a UPS thing), I don't think you're right. I ordered around the same time and my delivery is scheduled for Saturday.

I called UPS and they do not deliver in my area in Saturday....Fed Ex does, USPS does, UPS does not. This just puts such a bad taste in my mouth. I cannot imagine I'm alone here, as I don't exactly live in a rural area and I am only 15 miles from a UPS hub.

"On Twitter, a search for the phrase "still in China" turns up these comments and more:"

"I hope I'm not the only person getting anxious that UPS shows my iPad is still in China."

"My iPad was still in China yesterday, according to UPS. Oh where are you iPad? When will I get to pinch and poke and swipe you?"

"My iPad is still in China. It's going to have to shake a leg."

"My iPad is still in China. It's gotta travel pretty fast to get here by Saturday."

"im burning out the refresh button on the UPS page. My iPad is STILL in China"

"Why is my iPad still in China? It's *Thursday*, Apple."

"I'm not sure I like knowing that my iPad is still in China. Although it is in a city I've been to, so that makes me feel better. . . "

"Why is my iPad still in China???? (starts hyperventilating) UPS, it better be here ON SATURDAY.

I thought I read on Gizmodo that some people had their iPads appear in Alaska but then suddenly all the tracker said was that it was in Shenzhen.

I'm pretty sure I read during the order process that Saturday delivery would be made where available. The bad taste in your mouth is of your own making if you didn't check before ordering.
