Okay, when I start UT (the OSX app), it starts the game, but whenever I click on 'populated servers' on the in game browser, it locks up hard. It didn't used to do this. Any ideas?

System: Tibook running 10.4.8 with all updates.

i fixed this..

you need to find the hosts file or something and make unreal.epic.com or something goto localhost.

the IP is localhost. it doesnt reidrect anything, it just turns off the dead UT game server so the game doesnt hang when it tries to connect. or something.

I don't get this. What exactly am I supposed to do? I followed your directions but it didn't work. It still crashes, but I'm not sure I did it right. Is there a way to do this WITHOUT using terminal, because I have no idea what I'm doing.

no.
Judging by what kick52 is saying unreal.epicgames.com (as a url) no longer works, so UT hangs when it tries to resolve it in game, by redirecting it (that /etc/hosts file) you can make it check your local machine - it'll find no games, but it also won't crash.
we don't have time to stop for gas

I need some more information, because I tried this and I don't think I did it right. Can somebody please give me a detailed walk through? I'm 90% sure I did it right, but it's still crashing whenver I hit internet games or anything like that.

ok basicly, you go into Terminal.app.
at the prompt, type 'sudo pico /etc/hosts'. press enter to make it execute the command.
now 'nano' the text editing program will come up.
go to the end of the file, and put in '127.0.0.1 unreal.epicgames.com'.
then save it, by pressing (ctrl)+(o) <- thats o, as like it is in 'oh.'
now run UT and hope everything is fine.

if you cant do it, you could let me log in via ssh and do it for you.

Do I save it by appeneding the file? I did all that, and "127.0.0.1 unreal.epicgames.com" is now listed in my hosts file, under everything else. Yet, UT still locks up when I hit internet games.

hmm.. weird.

i think there is another method, using the eavy server browser, found on the right here: Eavy's Unreal Tournament Mods

at least, i think that might be a solution, i saw it somewhere.

theres a zip version.

also, i think you might have to restart to make the /etc/hosts solution to work.
