Which forum does this belong in? Anyways, I have sold a FP iMac and don't have any of the original packing. How am I going to pack this safely for shipping? I am most worried about the screen (17")...thinking of the box getting tossed and turned and that arm pressing into the back of the lcd scares me!
Suggestions! Please

I would suggest that it belongs in the "iMac and eMac forum".
Just a guess.
(sorry, no suggestions)

I would take some time and disassemble the LCD from the base, and then pack them seperately.

Hmmm disassembly of screen...no thanks. I don't know if you're serious or not
Throwing out the box...well it's gone nothing more I can do there!
Calling Apple...really? Is this possible? It doesn't have applecare but it is still on the original 1 yr warranty...
Can anyone let me know how the current box works? I can't remember. What is the basic idea of the Apple box? How does it secure everything?
The only thing I can think is to get a big box, place the screen down and in front of the cd tray, and then build a styrofoam ring to secure the base if the box goes sideways...but it's all very complicated!!

I suggest getting a box big enough for the iMac, and then place the iMac in a large heavy duty plastic "bag" and dump lots of styrofoam bits/sponge thingy in the box.

I second this idea, but I would also take a screen and tie the neck down to the bottom of the box or the actual base itself so that the arm isn't swinging wildly in transit.

kenazo, if your mac is under warranty and you tell them it is not working. They will send you a special box for you to send it in for repair...
