<img src="http://www.lzxray.com/18.jpg" alt=" - " />This is one of the more famous and enduring pictures to come out of the Vietnam war. It was taken of a young 1st Lieutenant about to lead his troops on a bayonet charge during the battle for LZ X-ray. The picture was taken by Peter Arnett and is on the cover of the book We Where Solders Once, and Young written by Army Gen. Hal Moore and reporter Joe Galloway. The book is about the battle at LZ X-ray in the Ia Drang Valley of Vietnam during November 1965. The book declared the 1st Lieutenant in this picture a "battlefield legend." His men called him Hard Corps his name was Rick Rescorla.

Born in Hayle, England, in 1939, Rescorla joined the U.S. Army in the 1960s and went to Vietnam as a platoon leader with the B Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry. After serving in Vietnam he became a citizen of the United States, attended law school and enjoyed a prosperous carrier as the head of security for Morgan Stanley. Rick Rescorla was killed on September 11, 2001

Rescorla is credited with saving the lives of 3800 coworkers as he led them from their offices during the attacks on the World Trade Center and was last seen on the tenth floor going back up to look for seven people that where unaccounted for.

There is a considerable difference between "Hard Corps" and "Hard Core".
