People,

A just friend ordered her first Mac, a MBP, she is switching from a windows notebook. My question is, what is the easiest way to move files, address book and all from the old to the new? Her old machine does have USB 2.0 on it, btw. Any help or advice here would be great.

Thanks
Bill

She should just use a high-capacity flash drive or external hard drive for this stuff.

Address book may be trickier. She'll need to drag its entries to the desktop or a new folder, which makes them into vCards. Now copy those files to the Mac, then drag-drop them into either Entourage or OS X's Address Book to add them.

Apple has had switching pages up for quite a while. Look here:

Apple should really provide a migration assistant tool for PC->Macs.

There's a company that provides one. Even has a cable for it.

Yeah - I'm put off by the cost and the scare-stories they have on their front page. Having an option to get a cable and a disc for your PC when you buy a new Mac would be a nice touch for people worried about this. I still get 'will my photos work on a Mac?' questions.
