Hi all,

Can anybody recommend a camera along the lines of the isight? This would be used on my macpro,
I'm not looking to drop a bundle here. It would mostly be used for chatting with family members using
aol im and yahoo chat nothing major.

Thanks in advance.
Bill

These two in particular don't have a mic. Seems unnecessary anyhow, considering they're built-in on most modern machines.

Short of finding a used iSight - Of the very, very few Logitech models that are clearly Mac compatible - their top selling 9000 model or Ultravision series web cams easily rivals an iSight's quality lens and have BETTER low-light sensitivity. They're one of a half-dozen IT-JUST-WORKS on a modern Mac, no drivers needed, UVC compliant USB 2.0 webcams that are the smart buying choice. Others top-picks are listed at: UVC Compatible USB Webcam List of Web Cams For Apple Mac-Vista-Linux - The Xbox cam is a suprisingly good bargain choice, the iMage is a bit grainy and lower resolution so it's not the best of the bunch.

I found the Logitech 9000 on buy.com for $65. with a $20. rebate = $45. I jumped on it.

I did look for a used isight, they are going for more then what they cost new.

Thanks DocMacPS for the advice!!
