Indeed it does, I've used CGI to generate PNG images on the fly, and they display fine in IE5 under OSX.
I do however seem to recall that if you try to display the image "bare" (ie not as part of a webpage, but just the image alone), then IE will try to download it... that might just be an issue with the default MIME type settings though.

IE:Mac displays PNG's correctly, the trouble is with IE/Win.
Actually, even IE/Win displays nontransparent PNG's correctly, the problem is when the image has an alpha channel. See http://www.alistapart.com/stories/pngopacity/
The site listed above has a workaround (for the Web designer, not the user) for displaying transparent PNG's in IE/Win. I believe there's even a link to an existing petition (although I could be wrong on this point).

Hey, sorry guys. I don't know why Macnn cuts off the first post sometimes. What I was trying to say is that I love PNG, but Win IE still doesn't support it properly! Please sign this petition to get MS going..
